Being a community-focused book, we wanted to open up the celebration to our community — and beyond. So, we’ve planned a low-key pop-up shop / exhibit / party (call it what you will) for Sunday 9 November at Warrandyte Pottery, from 11am til 5pm. All welcome — whether you’re a local, a long-time follower, or just curious. Drop in briefly and pick up a copy of the book, or hang around for a while on the outdoor terrace for a beverage and some music. Warrandyte Brewing Co. will have their van on site, and there are plenty of other coffee and snack options nearby (hi, Field Day). The Warrandyte Pottery space will be transformed for the day — part pop-up shop, part exhibition — featuring a selection of art and design by local residents, including several featured in the book. Huge thanks to Warrandyte Pottery for opening their doors; their handmade ceramics will also be available for sale throughout the day. If you’ve pre-ordered a copy and selected local pickup, you’ll be able to collect it here. If you can’t make it, just get in touch and we’ll arrange an alternative. For the families (we see you, we are you) — Warrandyte Pottery is located right next to an excellent playground, so you can keep eyes on the little ones while enjoying some adult conversation. For gardening enthusiasts, our launch event just happens to coincide with the Hanson Garden Open Day, presented by Open Gardens Victoria. So, take this as your sign to make a day of it and check out this iconic example of Bush Modern–style landscaping. And if you can’t make it this time — there’ll be another event announced soon for later in November at a Collingwood venue.
