Our version of what rationalist & EA communities do in SF & NYC - songs, stories, food & a celebration of life! We are so excited to see you there! -- More Info: The days are growing shorter, the nights are growing long, and our annual Solstice is fast approaching! Join us this Saturday, December 20th, for an evening of singing, storytelling, vegan dishes, contemplation of death, and celebration of life and human achievement. Date: Saturday, December 20, 2024 Schedule: 7:30 PM doors open for snacks and chatting 8:00 songs, speeches, etc. 10ish: more food, after-party Location: Emma and Conifer's House in Pilsen (1120 W 19th Pl Apt 2, Chicago, 60608) Originating in the NYC Less Wrong community, Secular Solstice is an event created by and for rationalists and humanists - but all are welcome (and encouraged!) to join us! Our Solstice is also intended for the Chicago EA community. We are aiming, broadly, to bring the ritual weight of a religious holiday into a rationalist context. In practice, this will consist of a couple hours of ceremony (speeches, songs, etc.) and a few more of uninhibited social gathering (party). Your contributions are welcome! If you have something to share or add to the program, please reach out to Emma on Discord (@ssolenyaa) or to Conifer (352-615-0533). If you're interested in speaking or singing but unsure what to contribute, we are happy to assist! :) If you'd like to bring some food, that would also be appreciated but is by no means necessary Please RSVP here, so we know how much food to make! P.S. If you have an early bedtime, feel free to come for just the first part of the night. Alternatively, if you have some other obligation in the evening, feel free to come later! :)
