Announcing the 1st Annual SERC Open House for Industry! 🚀
Curious what the next generation of space technology looks like before it hits the market? Come see it being built in real time.
Join us on July 15 at the USC Space Engineering Research Center (SERC) for a full day of innovation, live demonstrations, student showcases, and behind-the-scenes access inside USC's premier—and only—Space Engineering Research Center, located right on the water in Marina del Rey.
This is not a traditional conference. It’s an opportunity to walk through active laboratories, meet the engineers and researchers building the future of space systems, and connect directly with the students, faculty, PhD researchers, and industry partners driving new ideas forward.
What to Expect
The Open House will feature two concurrent tracks throughout the day, giving attendees the flexibility to customize their experience.
Morning Session: 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Afternoon Session: 1:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
During each session, guests may choose to attend either:
Lightning talks and technical presentations, or
Guided laboratory tours through SERC's active research facilities.
Attendees are encouraged to switch tracks after lunch, allowing everyone the opportunity to experience **both** the presentations and the lab tours over the course of the day.
Additional highlights include:
Live demonstrations of cutting-edge space technologies
Networking with researchers, startups, industry leaders, and students
Opportunities to explore collaborations, internships, and technology transition pathways
Featured Areas & Projects
This summer, more than 20 students from USC, partner universities, and local high schools are working on hands-on projects spanning:
* Space robotics
* Satellite systems
* AI and autonomy
* Space cybersecurity
* Advanced sensing and sensor networks
* Communications and processing systems
* Orbital operations and infrastructure
You'll also hear from:
* USC Stevens Center representatives on transitioning university research into commercial ventures
* USC Office of Research experts on partnering and doing business with USC
* Researchers from USC Information Sciences Institute supporting next-generation aerospace and defense technologies
Why Attend?
The goal of the Open House is simple: connect Southern California industry directly with fast-moving university innovation. Whether you're a startup, investor, government organization, established aerospace company, or simply curious about where space technology is headed, this is your opportunity to see emerging capabilities up close and meet the people building them.
Come explore the labs. Meet the teams. See the future of space engineering in action.
