Join us at HEFT for an evening with “Wanderer” — Conversations & Reception for Ashley Zelinskie + Jeres’s new generative series.
📅 Saturday, Nov 22 · 5–7 PM
📍 300 Broome St, NYC
Wanderer is a generative artwork that translates spectroscopy data from ten distant exoplanets observed by the James Webb Space Telescope into vivid, moving visual compositions. Through custom code and cosmic data, the work reflects on our search for life beyond Earth — and the beauty of the unknown.
The event will feature short conversations with the artists Ashley Zelinskie and Jeres, and Dr. Sarah Kendrew — Instrument & Calibration Scientist with the European Space Agency at STScI, supporting the science operations of the MIRI instrument on JWST — in a series of lovely interviews moderated by HEFT director and founder Adam Heft Berninger.
Bring a friend! The artists and Dr. Kendrew will be present for an intimate discussion about the ideas behind Wanderer — a unique chance to hear directly about the inspiration, process, and intersections between art and science that shaped the work. We’ll have bubbles, beer, and non-alcoholic drinks to enjoy as we connect, share perspectives, and strengthen our growing art community at HEFT.
