WJOA Fall Walk Through Westchester

Join the Wandering Jews of Astoria for a fun four-mile fall walk through Westchester County on Sunday, October 11. We’ll be leaving from Manhattan and taking the train to the southern portion of the Old Croton Aqueduct, with stops such as the scenic Untermeyer Gardens overlooking the Hudson River and the Palisades in Yonkers along with Hastings-on-Hudson, where we’ll break for lunch. Please RSVP here by Thursday, October 8. Participants should meet at 10:20 a.m. at the Harlem-125th Street Metro-North Railroad Station in Manhattan. You can also board the same train at Grand Central Terminal if that is more convenient. Please allow time to buy train tickets through the ticket vending machine or through the MTA TrainTime app. Tentative Schedule: 10:20 a.m. - Group meets at the Harlem-125th Street Metro-North Station 10:25 a.m. - Metro-North Hudson Line train bound for Croton-Harmon leaves Grand Central Terminal 10:36 a.m. - Metro-North Hudson Line train bound for Croton-Harmon leaves the Harlem-125th Street Metro-North Station 11:04 a.m. - Train arrives at Greystone Station and group starts walking (this portion of the walk is uphill on city streets, but is only half a mile) 11:30 a.m. - Group arrives at Untermeyer Gardens. Admission is free. 12:15 p.m. - Group leaves Untermeyer Gardens and walks north along the Old Croton Aqueduct trail to Hastings-on-Hudson 1:15 p.m. - Lunch in Hastings-on-Hudson 2:15 p.m. - Walk continues north along Old Croton Aqueduct trail (those who need to leave early can catch the Hudson Line from the station in Hastings-on Hudson) 3:00 p.m. - Group arrives in downtown Dobbs Ferry and walks down to Waterfront Park 3:56 p.m. - Metro-North Hudson Line train leaves Dobbs Ferry Station 4:30 p.m. - Train arrives at Harlem-125th Street Metro North Station 4:44 p.m. - Train arrives at Grand Central Terminal —- Photo credit: Magpieturtle, CC BY 4.0, via Wikimedia Commons
