Neighborhood: Frogtown
Drop-in workshop hours: 1:00–3:00 PM.
Join Forager Crafts x Climate Designers LA x Little Green Art Studio as we team up to upcycle everyday items into new creative opportunities for the 2nd annual LA Design Weekend!
Bring your own T-shirt or old clothing to upcycle!
From 1:00–3:00 PM at this drop-in workshop, we will explore the creative and regenerative possibilities of transforming discarded textile resources (t-shirts) into one-of-a-kind handmade items. Learn how to make things by hand with what we have on hand, support local community, slow fashion activities, and climate resilience!
We‘re also partnering with Project Ropa, where they collect, sort, and repurpose new and gently used clothing, shoes, accessories, and distribute them to individuals experiencing homelessness and extreme poverty. Here’s a list of acceptable items to bring for drop off: https://www.projectropa.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Project-Ropa-InKind-Donation-List.pdf

*According to a study conducted by Textile Exchange in 2020, it is estimated that the production of pre-consumer recycled yarn saves up to 60% energy and reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 32% compared to conventional yarn production.
🤙 About Event
Drop-in workshop hours: 1:00–3:00 PM.
LA Design Weekend is a hands-on, community-driven experience—an invitation to make, explore, and connect. celebration of LA’s sprawling, spectacular design scene—broken down into bite-sized, neighborhood-based experiences. It’s a progression, moving from one part of the city to the next across four days. The event brings together studios, shops, installations, and more in clustered pockets, making it easy to explore by foot, bike, scooter, Metro, or whatever wheels you’ve got.
Whether you're local or just design-curious, it’s your chance to see LA through a fresh, creative lens—one stop at a time.
This year, we’re honoring the resilience of our creative community in the wake of the devastating fires—spotlighting the makers, spaces, and ideas that continue to rebuild, reimagine, and inspire.

Climate Designers LA Chapter (https://www.climatedesigners.org/losangeles) is part of a global design community for creative professionals from all industries, committed to supporting designers to be climate leaders everywhere they work. We empower each other to learn, connect, and act on climate solutions to actively co-create a just and regenerative world. The creative talent in Los Angeles shapes culture globally, so let’s direct our energy to collectively build a thriving LA to show the world what’s possible.
Forager Crafts (https://www.foragercrafts.com) believes that creating something with your hands is a radical act. More than a fleeting moment of joy, it’s an act of self-care, personal growth, and connection to the generations who came before us. In a digital world, crafting provides physical grounding and a reprieve from the screen. Working with our hands improves our creativity, our problem-solving, our self-confidence, and offers a moment to relax, reset, and re-center - even if only for a moment.
Little Green Art Studio (https://www.littlegreenartstudio.com) is in residence at Forager Crafts. We host a unique range of art, craft and sewing classes for adults and children taught by skilled resident and guest teachers. Our classes are intimate, informative, and thoughtfully curated to emphasize artistry, accessibility and sustainability. We host local and regional artists to teach classes as a means of supporting and promoting their work, while also allowing our students to try new mediums and explore their creative curiosity.
