Once upon a time, Gavin and Ina were Amazon coworkers, brought together by their shared summer in Seattle. While consumed by their day jobs, both knew their creative acumen and upbringing in hands-on, nature focused Fuzhounese households would amount to some physical manifestation of their personal expression. Off the heels of a 6 year friendship and in the spirit of the new year/new hobbies, we present the second installment of Ganda Gardens + GΛV workshops! Ina, founder of Ganda Gardens (@gandagardensnyc) , is a florist focused on sustainable sculptural design, honing in her Filipino and Chinese background to inform her practice of floral design as a vehicle for story telling. Gavin is a ceramicist who specializes in wheelthrowing. His work, signed off as GΛV, is recognized by its organic and ergonomic forms. Join us for an intro to floral mechanics and arrangement design with hand thrown vases made by GΛV and we encourage you to have some dumplings from our amazing hosts, Formosa (the chicken with Napa cabbage is my favorite)! Participants will go home with their arrangement in hand thrown vases as well as the floral shears they used. NOTE: RSVPs and ticket sales are final. We unfortunately cannot allow walk ins for day of as we plan floral and pot inventory prior to Sunday. Illustration by Helene Ryu (@helene.zip)
