A BOOK LAUNCH WITH MUSIC
Jessica McNamara and Ryan Schulte have been friends and collaborators for over a decade, having survived the original run of Ryan Murphy's "Glee" and a high-stakes literary magazine. Now, Ryan has released his self-branded “masc disaster novel,” "I Dreamed I Saw Augustine" (Rebel Satori Press, 2026), and no stone will be left unturned. "Augustine" charts a young gay’s isolation and eventual community in Brooklyn alongside grumpy Rolling Stones cover band musicians. The main character, Calvin, vows to raise his 2015 political consciousness and doesn’t quite know how to pull it off. Will he? And should you care? Come find out!
Join Jessica and Ryan for a far-reaching, interactive reading and conversation about the intersections of prose writing and stage management, drama, fiction, hometown politics, queer dating or the lack of it in college, and the cultural supremacy of "Derry Girls." Waltz Whitman will play an acoustic alt rock set, and books will be available for purchase. It's an ideal Monday night.
Jessica McNamara (they/them) is a queer disabled producer and stage manager. A graduate of Sarah Lawrence College, they have practiced their craft at Goodspeed Musicals, Madison Lyric Stage, off-Broadway, and the Philly Fringe Festival. They are passionate about fostering a diverse and accessible artistic community, and can likely be found at Tattooed Mom or Marsha’s.
Ryan Schulte (he/him) is a community gardener with NYC Parks. "I Dreamed I Saw Augustine" is his first novel.
