Shrine To Motherhood: Art Show and Fundraiser
Each year, Black women die from pregnancy-related complications at a rate three times higher than that of white women, an estimated 250+ deaths. Shrine To Motherhood, an installation by Haywood Watkins III in collaboration with Secret Flowers, responds with more than 1,000 flowers wrapped as Mother's Day bouquets, resting together as a makeshift memorial. A gesture of love repurposed into an act of mourning.
