Join us for the opening of Still Here, a powerful new exhibition by artist Ann Johnson.
Through photography, printmaking, and installation, Johnson reimagines archival images of Houston’s Freedmen’s Town, the first Black settlement in Texas after emancipation. By inviting community members to re-stage historic photographs and printing them directly onto concrete, Johnson bridges past and present while honoring the iconic brick streets that still pulse through the neighborhood.
In today’s political climate, where culture and history face erasure, Johnson’s work insists on remembrance. Still Here is a tribute to ancestry, community, and resilience.
