🌟 We are back! Join Flowtopia for our second time marching in the Dance Parade! This parade has been a staple in Manhattan every spring since 2007 in response to cabaret laws (which were repealed in 2017!). We are honored to be apart of an event that puts dance as resistance at the forefront of their organization! 🌟 Flowtopia will have detailed lineup information and timing for you soon - please check this page and/or our Instagram chat for updates. 🌥️ Dance Parade is a rain or shine event! Please be prepared for all weather conditions. 🌟 ARE YOU A STILTWALKER?! We will need your COI (certificate of insurance). Please contact Pippin for more information. Your COI must be submitted in advance, so do not delay! 🌟**COST:** This year, we are asking for a sliding scale participation fee. Flowtopia has already registered for the parade! We are asking for sliding scale donations from $10 to $25. Can't afford to pay? Please reach out - we have a limited number of sponsored spots available to our dancers. (Ready to pay? Hula hoops, poi, juggling props, dragon staffs, contact staffs, diabolo, 8-rings - please bring whatever is clever! (Please ensure props are all in working order before the event. Extras will likely /not/ be available.) 🪻 ID / cash / cards if you plan on going out after the parade 🌸 Have a mobility aid? Please bring it! 🪻 Sunscreen, sunglasses, rain gear, anything to help you feel comfortable that day! 🌸 A bag or holster belt! BE PREPARED TO CARRY ALL OF YOUR ITEMS ON YOUR PERSON! 🌟Start: 12:00 PM at 6th Avenue & 17th Street 🌟Route: South on 6th Avenue, east on 8th Street/St. Marks Place, ending at Avenue A 🌟DanceFest: 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM in Tompkins Square Park 🚂 PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION: 🚆 As always, we recommend using the Citymapper App day of for accurate travel information. Please check the app first before reaching out to us about travel issues! ⛔ Street Closures: 6th Avenue (8th-18th St), 8th Street, and St. Marks Place will be closed to traffic. 🚆SUBWAY: Numerous lines service the area, including the 1, 2, 3, F, M, L, N, Q, R, and W trains, which have stations near 6th Avenue (14th St or 23rd St) and 8th Street (Astor Place or 14th St-Union Sq). 🚌 BUS: Prepare for buslines to NOT be your first option. Crosstown buses (like M8 or M14) will be affected by street closures before the parade. ♿ ACCESS-A-RIDE: Please contact the MTA directly for this accessibility option.
