Join us for an afternoon screening of the KCFFI award-winning Viet Kieu documentary The Empathizer (www.empathizerdoc.com) at the historic Stanley H Durwood Film Vault at the KC Public Library! RSVP is required for either screening, each of which are followed by an in-person Q&A with the filmmakers : Director+Producer Fred Le (instagram.com/fredle) and Co-Director+Cinematographer Bret Hamilton (instagram.com/cinemarxismbret). This special engagement is sponsored by the nonprofit Hella Good Deeds www.hellagooddeeds.org . The Empathizer is an hourlong documentary exploring the second-generation immigrant experience, identity, and inheritance. Shot in 2022 in Saigon and Hanoi, the film features interviews conducted by comedian Fred Le with adult overseas-born Vietnamese who made the choice to establish roots in the land that their parents fled. There are two opportunities to view the film : 🎞️ 3PM and 🎞️ 5:30PM. Please indicate which screening you will be attending in your RSVP. Spots are limited, and RSVP is REQUIRED!
