We are pleased to announce the opening reception of 33°30′36″ N, 36°17′28″ E by Muna Alfadl at Astoria Art Center on Saturday September 5th from 6-9 pm. This exhibition is exploring cautious, diasporic nostalgia through abstracted Google Earth Street View imagery of souk entrances, market places, and nearby locations in Syria painted onto wood panels. Alfadl examines the deconstruction, reconstruction, and fragmentation of memory within the Damascene cityscape. The work will be on view until September 27th on Thursday-Sunday from 1-6pm.
