Join us at JAYU Toronto for an inspiring workshop with Akilah, focused on overcoming creative blocks, building sustainable routines, and reclaiming your artistic identity! In this workshop you will learn: - Tools for creating despite resistance. - Daily habits that support identity shifts into artistry. - How to use the craft of writing as a recovery tool. - Creative routines that ease the effects of burnout. - How to recover creatively after distance from your craft. About your Workshop Facilitator: Akilah Walcott is a Black-Guyanese woman, writer, singer and poet with a passion for storytelling. Her artistic spirit blossomed in childhood, where she also discovered a deep appreciation for music. Language and music became a meeting place. Akilah’s work has been published in Trad Magazine, Pitch Magazine and Jayu Poetry Zine. Her music and spoken word has been showcased in collaboration with organizations like Sisters In Sync, Hamilton You Poets, ACCPI , Nia Center of the Arts, and Brampton Arts Organization. In addition to her artistry, Akilah is a Registered Nurse in pediatrics, and is proud to have the art of creation in all aspects of her life.
