Back in 2023, I was lucky enough to speak with Olympic gold medalists Gabriella Papadakis and Madison Hubbell about their revolutionary ice dance partnership and their experiences as women in a sport that’s all about the performance of gender on the ice. I fucking love ice dance — and it’s the perfect pressure cooker for two characters to form a toxically codependent bond and eventually fall in love. So why not two women??
