A discussion on AI’s impact on youth hosted at IBM with panelists Girls Who Code, UCLA, IBM, and Anthropic during NYC Tech Week.
Generative AI is quickly becoming embedded in school, work, and everyday life—yet many young people still lack meaningful access to learning what AI is, how it works, and how it shapes opportunity.
This panel brings together industry and youth voices to explore findings from Girls Who Code + UCLA Computer Science Equity Project’s study investigating how teens and young adults—particularly girls and women—make sense of AI and its impacts on their identities, futures, and actions.
IBM’s Director of AI Governance & Responsible Technology, Jamie VanDodick, will lead a discussion with Ryan Clarke of Girls Who Code, Jean Ryoo of UCLA, Trisha Bansal of Anthropic, Dr. Ronny Luss of IBM, and Columbia University student Anabel Kinsey to translate youth-informed research into actionable insights for responsible AI development, equitable AI education, and workforce readiness. Opening remarks will be made by Pamela Jacob, Corporate Social Responsibility Leader, North America, IBM.
