CHANGE THE BEAT NEW YORK — WORKSHOP Proceeds from the workshop will support our nonprofit, Change the Beat, and our work creating education, mentorship and opportunities for women and underrepresented artists in electronic music. Following a sold-out NYC event last year, Change the Beat returns to New York on Friday, September 18 for a special workshop and industry networking event at Marquee New York. From 7–11 PM, join us for two industry panels — How to Get Booked as a DJ in NYC and How to Get Signed by an A-List Dance Label — featuring leading NYC talent buyers, promoters and A&Rs, plus a very special keynote interview with international DJ and producer Tini Gessler. Get real-world insight into getting booked, approaching labels, building industry relationships and developing a sustainable career in electronic music — directly from the people working inside the industry. The workshop is followed by the Change the Beat afterparty at Marquee from 11 PM to close, headlined by Tini Gessler, alongside Sydney Blu, AKKI and LEFTI. HOW TO GET BOOKED AS A DJ IN NYC What does it actually take to get booked in one of the world's most competitive nightlife markets? Join Frank Nostro (Marquee NY / Marquee Skydeck), Mary Wolff & Kseniya Sovenko (NYC Rave Girls), and Duncan Abdelnour (Virgo Events, Unveiled NYC; formerly Project 91) for an inside look at how NYC talent buyers discover and book DJs. Moderated by AKKI, the panel will cover how to approach promoters, what talent buyers look for, building your presence in the local scene, and how to turn your first opportunities into repeat bookings. HOW TO GET SIGNED BY AN A-LIST DANCE LABEL You've made the music — now how do you get the right labels to hear it? Join Mike Weiss (Nervous Records) and LEFTI (Omakase, Gray Area) for an inside look at what A&Rs are really looking for when signing new music and artists. Moderated by Sydney Blu, the panel will cover how to choose the right labels, submit your demos, stand out in a crowded inbox, build relationships with A&Rs and turn a label signing into career momentum. KEYNOTE INTERVIEW: TINI GESSLER Before headlining Change the Beat at Marquee later that night, Tini Gessler (Experts Only, elrow, Spain) joins Sydney Blu for a special keynote interview about the journey behind her international career. Tini will share insights into developing her sound and identity, breaking into new markets, navigating the music industry, touring internationally and building a sustainable career as a DJ and producer. An intimate conversation about the opportunities, challenges and decisions behind taking an electronic music career to the international stage.
