“Body Language”, a new one-act play by Dale Peck, is about the life and afterlife of Linus Herrell (played by the luminous and licentious Jonah Wheeler), a gay activist, artist, and porn shop owner from Cleveland. Linus died of complications from AIDS in fall of 1990, but in 2024, 34 years to the day, his ashes were discovered at a clandestine BDSM retreat in rural Pennsylvania. “Body Language”, directed by Carson Parish, traces this forgotten leatherman’s improbable journey in life and death, passionately narrated by John Coons, and featuring exuberant new music from its two stars, as well as unseen original photographs by Mark I. Chester. The play (approx. 20 min) will be repeated three times on the evening of November 9 for filming purposes: Set 1, 8:00 PM: The Play – “Body Language” will be performed entirely as written, like a traditional stage play. Set 2, 8:45 PM: The Shoot – “Body Language” will be staged in its entirety again with brief pauses for camera setups incorporated. Set 3, 9:30 PM: The Workshop – “Body Language” will be staged one final time with a more improvisational (and potentially naughtier) tone. Please indicate which set you plan to attend upon RSVP. Each set is limited to 30-40 people, with limited spots available at the door. $10 suggested donation, all proceeds go to Chosen Family Law Center, a LGBTQIA legal defense fund. Photo and flyer by Jean Sonderand. *This is a live filming of Peck’s play for a short film of the same name by Carson Parish. By agreeing to attend, you are consenting to being recorded for the short film.*
