Known for his fast, instinctive visual language and deep connection to the pace and character of New York, SMURFO turns his attention to the overlooked details that define the city’s daily rhythm. Created entirely with Liquitex markers, the works in In a New York Minute are made quickly and directly, capturing the immediacy of the city while reflecting a lifetime of observation, movement, and mark-making.
The exhibition focuses on the everyday icons of New York, not the monuments or postcard views, but the small moments that make the city recognizable: a bodega bag, a slice, a subway entrance, a gesture, a passing object, a feeling caught before it disappears. Through speed, precision, and instinct, SMURFO transforms these fleeting fragments into paintings that feel both casual and intentional.
In a New York Minute reflects the way New York is experienced in real time. It is fast, layered, and full of details that are often understood before they are fully seen.
Free refreshments will be served throughout the evening, alongside complimentary Liquitex art giveaways available on a first come, first served basis.
