NERDOUT CAMPOUT Wild Seeds Ranch · July 17–19, 2026 NerdOut CampOut is an intimate 3-day gathering at Wild Seeds Ranch in Dulzura, CA for the kind of people who have too many browser tabs open, own at least one piece of hardware they haven't finished building, and consider a Saturday spent soldering and arguing about lore a genuinely good time. If you're in town for ComicCon and want somewhere to decompress with good people and better conversation, this is it. We're tinkering. We're gaming. We're eating our favorite shitty foods. RSVP early! 📍 Wild Seeds Ranch · Dulzura, CA (outside San Diego) 🗓️ Friday July 17 — Sunday July 19 🛏️ Limited overnight spots available, ask about staying in a room or camping Bring: your laptop, any hardware projects in progress, any last minute cosplay costume fixes, and a friend. FULL ITINERARY FRIDAY JULY 18 Arrival & Game Night 3:00pm — Doors open Arrive, get settled, grab a drink. The Ranch is yours to explore. 7:00pm — Casual feast Communal dinner 8:30pm -- Brain Snacks aka Hyperfixation Dump Everyone will be preparing a 5 minute keynote on something they are freakishly passionate about. Best way to get to know each other is special interest info dump. Late night — open hang The Ranch at night is something else. Fire, conversation, whatever happens. SATURDAY JULY 19 The Tinkering Day *This is the main event. Bring your projects, your curiosity, and your patience for things that don't work on the first try.* 9:00am — Coffee & morning setup Get caffeinated. Set up your workspace. The Ranch becomes a maker space for the day. 9:30-10:30 NFC Chip Mini-Projects NFC chip programming and embedding in personal charms. Come with an idea (main project will be social charms that exchange personal contact info when networking) 11:00am — Soldering & wire work workshop Hands-on soldering, chips, motherboards, and detailed wire work. Bring components if you have them. We'll have materials for those who don't. All skill levels welcome. 1:00pm — Lunch break Step away from the workbench. Eat something. Go outside. 2:00-4:00 — Cyberdeck & Raspberry Pi Tinkershop The afternoon deep dive. We're building cyberdecks, playing with Raspberry Pi and ESP32 hardware, connecting e-paper screens, and generally making things that look like they belong in a Gibson novel. 4:00pm — Open coding / free build time Work on whatever you brought. Collaborate. Ask for help. Show people what you're working on. This is the unstructured window where the best stuff usually happens. 6:30pm — Show and tell Bring your build to the table: finished, broken, half-assembled, whatever, and brag for 2 minutes. 7:30pm — Dinner Proper meal. Decompress. Talk about everything that went wrong and right today. 9:00pm — Movie night We'll all submit suggestions and vote on the movie. --- SUNDAY JULY 20 Bruncheon & Dragons 10:00am — Brunch setup begins 11:00am — Bruncheon & Dragons begins One-shot D&D session — pre-built adventure, all experience levels welcome, characters provided if you don't have one. You eat, you roll dice, you conquer. 2:00pm — Session ends (roughly) Wrap the adventure. Finish the food. Linger as long as you want. 3:00pm — Slow goodbye No hard out. Help clean up, and exchange numbers with the people you want to keep. --- LOGISTICS Getting there: Wild Seeds Ranch is in Dulzura, CA — about 45 minutes east of San Diego. Exact address sent with RSVP confirmation. Staying over: Limited beds and unlimited camping spots available Friday and Saturday nights. First come first served — note your preference when you RSVP. What to bring: - Laptop and any hardware projects in progress - Soldering iron if you have one (we'll have extras) - A movie suggestion for the Saturday vote - A dish for the communal table (any night) - Camping gear if you want to sleep outside Materials cost share: We're ordering bulk tinkering materials — Raspberry Pi components, NFC chips, e-paper screens, soldering supplies. Cost share will be roughly $20–40 depending on what you want to build. Details sent after RSVP. Vibe: Relaxed. Curious. Whimsical AF. No performance required.
