"Letters" Pop-Up Show at COOP Gallery

COOP is pleased to present a preview pop-up of Letters to Our Unborn Children: An Exploration of a Woman’s Decision to Remain Child-Free by Choice – a collaborative visual arts project led by artists Sarah Saturday and Tarri Driver that centers around one simple question posed to nearly 100 child-free women: ​​If you had the chance to explain your choice not to have children to the potential children you decided not to have, what would you say to them? Saturday and Driver launched the collaborative project in January 2024, creating an anonymous survey and private chat group for child-free women from all over the world to share about their choice in a safe space. The result of the nine-month-long project is a collection of 12 original paintings, each featuring direct quotes from the anonymous surveys. The quotes were compiled into 12 “letters” written from the point of view of 12 archetypes of “mothers.” A sneak preview of half of the collection will be on view at COOP Gallery Friday, October 25th, and Saturday, October 26th.
