Arely Guzmán (they/them) is an essayist, translator, and kid lit editor from Tijuana/ San Diego, currently residing in Harlem. Thy are a Tin House alum and a 2024 Kweli Journal fellow. In their nonfiction, Arely addresses culture, queerness and the liminal spaces they exist in. “Little Unreliable Narrators” “Los niños y los borrachos siempre dicen la verdad." This is a Mexican phrase, uttered to me again and again in my formative years, means, ""children and drunkards always tell the truth."" In this workshop, we'll tap into our inner children to find the most unfiltered yet obfuscated truths about our families, identities, and the society around us. " Please bring notebook + pen/ whatever is your preferable mode of writing. ABOUT US: A collective run by best friends of nearly two decades, Tina Kachoo and Solange Claws -- serves as a community space for poetry, ciphers improvisation, and live music throughout Brooklyn.
