Spring is on its way, and so is Nowruz, the Iranian New Year 🌷
Nowruz is a time of being in community, commemorating and celebrating the New Year, and heading steadfast into what spring has to offer. In an anti-Zionist and anti-imperialist fashion, come together for Chaharshanbeh Suri, an Iranian tradition of celebrating light over darkness.
In times of war, violence, and genocide, this tradition is essential to remaining steadfast.🕯️
All people and emotions are welcome, whether it be grief, determination, confusion, or all of the above ❤️🔥
We will meet at the beach at Lake Merritt (where the sculpture is), be together in times of grief, turbulence, and resistance, and jump over a small fire as a way to welcome the New Year with resilience and determination.
