OCEANIA: Journey to the Center
"Amid the unstoppable rise of the sea, the poignant story of a mother and her son unfolds. Their intimate narrative becomes a powerful reflection on loss, resistance, and the unwavering struggle for cultural identity. What begins as an everyday family portrait grows into a dramatic testament to the fragility of a place and the strength of its people..."
— Doxumentale International Media and Documentary Festival, Berlin
Join us for an evening of cinematic storytelling and community-building. The film begins on an atoll in Kiribati—a nation predicted to become uninhabitable due to sea-level rise and climate change.
Oceania is a character-driven, intimate film created over ten years. While rooted in a specific place, it asks viewers to reflect on universal questions of survival and heritage.
Mix and mingle with filmmaker Natalie Zimmerman and other ocean-forward attendees at the beautiful Donkey & Goat Winery, Berkeley’s first all-natural winery and community space. Following the screening and Q&A, you are invited to stay for a post-event reception.
Event Schedule:
6:00 PM: Doors open. You are welcome to arrive early and enjoy the winery’s indoor space and outdoor patio.
6:30 PM – 7 PM: Mix and mingle. Explore the ocean-themed space, enter raffles, learn about our impact work, and grab a bite or a drink. Music by Rourke.
7 PM: Programming & Film introduction by filmmaker Natalie Zimmerman, followed by the screening.
8:45 PM: Q&A with Natalie Zimmerman and Impact Producer Lindsay Gordon.
Post-Q&A: You are welcome to stay, meet the team, and enjoy the space with fellow guests.
