The Explainable ML Prediction Challenge is a two-day, technically rigorous event hosted by Intuit during NYC Tech Week 2026. Participants work on a shared, challenging dataset and are evaluated on the quality of their causal reasoning, forecast accuracy, engineering efficiency, and written methodology — not slide decks or stage presence.
The challenge sits at the intersection of causal forecasting, intervention analysis, and uncertainty quantification applied to large-scale multivariate data. You'll submit a recovered causal model, intervention forecasts, calibrated uncertainty estimates, and a short technical writeup explaining your approach. Automated scoring against held-out ground truth handles the objective evaluation; expert practitioners review your reasoning.
Teams of 2–4. Pre-formed teams welcome.
This event is a part of #NYTechWeek—a week of events hosted by VCs and startups to bring together the tech ecosystem. Learn more at www.tech-week.com.
