*◟*Nuit Noire returns August 8th for our second summer series - this time in Leimert Park at The Plant Chica to honor Los Angeles’ legacy of Black liberation and commemorate Black August: a month of reflection, resistance, and remembrance.
Presented by KITFO TV and Cushy Collective, Nuit Noire is a night of pan-African arts and culture that brings people together through short films, visual art, and live readings. This year includes spoken word curated by Safia Elhillo with Walela Nehanda, Yazmin Monet Watkins, Marvin James and Safia herself, experimental films by Robel Ketema, Idil Ibrahim, Nyallah, Francis Agyapong, immersive sound installations, and vendors.
T.A.P.E. invites guests to bring their own tapes and digital archives for playback and one-on-one preservation consultations, along with a participatory screening of home movies and community footage.
Rooted in memory and imagination, Nuit Noire is a living archive - a gathering for reverence, resistance, and collective dreaming.
