ABOUT PHOEBE LEGERE
Phoebe Legere is an award-winning songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose roots run deep in the soil of American music. Descended from the Abenaki people of Maine and the Acadian Cajuns of Canada, she carries forward centuries of storytelling tradition with songs that blend folk, blues, and country soul.
Praised by The New York Times as “spectacularly gifted” and by Billboard Magazine as “a brilliant songwriter with a voice like polished glass,” Legere is known for her heartfelt lyrics and radiant stage presence. Her Americana album Heart of Love reached #16 on the U.S. Roots/Folk charts, her single “Lady Friday” went to #1 in her home state of Maine, and her climate anthem Two Pianos is currently charting in Canada.
Her career spans from Carnegie Hall to BB King’s, from The Blue Note to Birdland. She has shared stages with David Bowie, Joni Mitchell, and John Hartford, and her work has been featured on CBS Sunday Morning, PBS, NPR, ABC, and NBC. In 2025, she won Best Soundtrack at the New York Independent Film Awards for her original score to Gender Symphony.
A prolific composer and poet who was shortlisted for the Pulitzer Prize, Legere brings both scholarship and soul to her art. She is the founder and National Director of the Foundation for New American Art, a 501(c)(3) dedicated to bringing free music education to underserved youth.
