Dear friends, I am delighted to welcome Lexïng to Le Trente on Wednesday, 19 March. Lexïng is an independent curator based in Paris, working at the intersection of contemporary art, design and cultural research. Over more than a decade, she has curated exhibitions across Asia, Europe and the Americas — building projects that foreground cultural exchange, material knowledge and what she calls pluralist worldviews. She grew up in Xinjiang, China, at the crossroads of the ancient Silk Road, immersed in overlapping languages, traditions and belief systems. Her father's fluency in Kazakh and Uyghur, alongside his modest collection of Silk Road artefacts from local bazaars, introduced her early to objects as vessels of memory, ritual and survival. That upbringing continues to shape everything she does. Her curatorial practice resists fixed identities — treating culture as fluid, relational, and shaped through movement and exchange. Recent exhibitions include Nomad's Breath (GESTE Paris, 2025), which reframed nomadism as a living knowledge system rooted in reciprocity and ecological awareness, and Dragon Is My Middle Name, a collective exhibition at LOY Gallery Singapore exploring what it means to belong to more than one world at once. At our salon, Lexïng will share her story — from her formative years in Shanghai, Paris and Miami, to her research and curatorial approach, to the Silk Road as a model for how cultures have always shaped each other through movement and encounter. She'll bring two of her exhibitions to life for us, and — with her artist's kind permission — we may even watch a short film whose work now lives in the permanent collection of the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. As always, the second half of our evening will open into conversation. Lexïng is a dear friend, an inspiration and I should mention, a wonderful dancer. An evening in her company is a privilege.
