Here & Now Art Collective and PLSN are teaming up for “Art As Activism” - a community event you won’t want to miss! This outdoor event (fingers crossed for dry skies) will focus on collective, values-based art-making. “Art as Activism” will take place on Saturday, September 19 from 1-4pm at Prospect Park (Picnic North House). The plan for the day is this - we will set up several different art stations that support the creation of values-based art. Supported by artists all the way! The first station will be facilitated by PLSN volunteers, and will help participants brainstorm how PLSN’s organizational values (which range from “Reciprocal,” “Personal” to “Anti-racism” and “Abolition”) might apply to your lives and art making journeys for the day. Art-making activities for the day will include: * Button making * Zine-making/Collage *Printmaking * Watercolor * Photography * Cyanotype * Creative writing/poetry * And more! Each station will allow participants to reflect on their initial values-based idea, and create art that blooms from that seed! All art-making levels are welcome, as are kids! As both PLSN and Here & Now call Lunita Loft their physical home, this event will be part of the loft’s 2026 fundraising effort. Taking advantage of a matching opportunity that is allowing the Loft to exist more fully as a community-funded event and gathering space for years to come, your $10 suggested donation will come with a large plate of grilled food (veggie + non-veg), and all art-making supplies! As always, nobody will be turned away for lack of funds, and everyone’s presence is welcome.
