Animal movement strategy discussions over drinks! We'll ask folks to read something ahead of the event, then we can drink and discuss. This week, we'll read "Winning is underrated in grassroots movements" by James Ozden: https://forum.effectivealtruism.org/posts/zq78Yj5tH6NGAReLT/winning-is-underrated-in-grassroots-movements Unlike last time, this is at my house, not a pub. If the weather is good, we will use the rooftop, otherwise we will meet indoors. I do have some cheap beer around and maybe a couple non-alcoholic beers, but if you want to drink or nibble on anything else, then please bring it yourself! Discussion questions: 1) How has animal activism historically failed to implement the idea that "winning is important"? Have we been asking for too much from new folks? 2) What should we do about it? What's a low-bar request we could make for people who care about animals, but haven't taken a plunge into veganism or deeper activism yet? 3) What about overall movement momentum? What kind of momentum do we get from easy wins and how can we translate that into the kind of progress we all care most about?
