This will be a convening of the newly-launched BGIAS Pittsburgh chapter where we will share space, and foster dialogue around Black and Afro feminisms within the creative art space, and investigate their connections to the fabrics of society and community. There will be a tour of the exhibition, followed by a talk with Akudzwe Elsie Chiwa and Tara Fay Coleman, where they will discuss the challenges of navigating art spaces as Black women. This convening will also allow for the BGIAS community to share their own challenges and experiences, with a goal to create a community of support, and uplift one another.
