🏔️ NYC Hiking’s First Overnight Adventure! This is officially our first overnight trip and biggest adventure yet! We’ll be heading to the Adirondacks to hike Mount Marcy, the highest peak in New York State at 5,344 ft. If you’ve been waiting for a true mountain adventure, this is it! 📍 Location: Mount Marcy via Van Hoevenberg Trail 📍 Trailhead: Adirondack Loj 📍 1002 Adirondack Loj Rd, Lake Placid, NY 🗓️ Trip Dates: Saturday, September 26th – Sunday, September 27th 🚗 Saturday Plan • Depart NYC around 10:00 AM • Arrive in Lake Placid around 4:00 PM • Check into our hotels, explore the town, walk around Mirror Lake, grab dinner, and get a good night’s rest before the big day. 🥾 Sunday Hike 🕕 Hike Start Time: 6:00 AM 📏 Hike Details • Distance: 14.6 miles • Elevation Gain: 3,526 ft • Route Type: Out & Back • Difficulty: Hard • Estimated Hiking Time: ~10 hours 🚙 Transportation I’ll be driving from NYC and have 4 available seats in my car. If you’d like to carpool, RSVP early since spots will be first come, first served. 🏨 Accommodation Everyone is responsible for booking their own hotel. I’ll be staying at the Courtyard by Marriott Lake Placid, but you’re welcome to stay wherever works best for your budget. 🎒 What to Bring • Hiking boots • 3L of water • Lunch & plenty of snacks • Warm layers (it can be cold on the summit even in September) • Rain jacket • Headlamp (recommended for the early start) ⚠️ Important This is a challenging, full-day mountain hike and is recommended for hikers who are comfortable with long distances and significant elevation gain. Please make sure you’re physically prepared before signing up.
