It's summer in the bay and we're here to hug some redwoods and build community! Calling all nature and creativity lovers ✨🌿 Anyone is welcome, no artistic experience is required. Seeking to deepen your connection to the land, creativity, awe and wonder this season? Our small group will meet under the redwoods to practice paying deep attention — to the more-than-human that surrounds us, to creative energy (and blocks!) that arise, and what we can learn in the shade of new and old friends. We don’t have any of the answers, but we’ll guide us in broadly exploring: what can the natural world teach us about play and creative process? What is stirred and re-enchanted when we slow down and pay deep attention to the earth’s seasons and our own internal creative cycles? We’ll walk 10-15 min from the trailhead into a gorgeous grove and get into some: - Guided creative exercises and prompts — solo and partnered — and quiet meditative forest bathing time & poetry from some of our favorite human teachers (think Robin Wall Kimmerer, Willow Defebaugh, adrienne marie brown) - Accessible awareness practices to get our bodies and minds and hearts in the forest! - Redwood tea & treats <3 ---------- Max 15 ppl to keep it cozy - $15 per person. Guided by Jayna Milan, an artist, writer, and therapist (@jayna_milan) and Noah Johnson, a bay area landscape artist, historical-ecology geek, and expert wanderer (@noahjohnsonart). ---------- *What should I bring?* - Paper and accompanying creative materials (pens, colored pencils, paints) that speak to you, keeping in mind that we'll be lightly moving in the forest. We will have materials to share! - A pad or blanket - whatever you need to be decently comfortable on the forest floor. We'll base camp after a 10 min walk from the trailhead, but there will then be the opportunity for solo exploration from there. *Are we making a finished art piece?* Not particularly! While we'll have several guided practices, and you may end up making a specific piece, we're exploring process > product. *Is this a therapy group?* Great question! Nope! While Jayna is a therapist, this is not a therapy group :) Please note, given the uneven terrain, the landscape is not ADA accessible.
