“The Library of Babel” @ BSMT 254 on Feb 20! This event will feature performances from TRIIO & High Alpine Hut Network.
Triio is the flagship project of double bassist/composer Alex Fournier, featuring a proprietary style of cinematic composition that focuses on the interplay and mutual influence shared between written music and free/collective improvisation. Constantly contrasting moments of intricate writing with free improvisation, both the music itself and the ensemble pursue total freedom of expression while still maintaining a distinct identity from piece to piece. With the goal of continuously creating a living score that is always open to the moment, Triio creates a life for the music that goes beyond its first conception.
High Alpine Hut Network is a psychedelic fusion group based in Toronto, ON. The group has released 2 EP's & are currently working on their first full length album. The band's high energy live performances are entirely improvised & pay homage to 70's era Miles Davis. Charging forth with sonic extrapolations & jazz infused freakouts...'High Alpine' is bound to leave you wanting more.
