*First 25 people to rsvp and request a copy will receive a free copy of The Emperor of Gladness.* Tulane University School of Liberal Arts in conjunction with Tulane Global will host author and poet Ocean Vuong for a public talk on the uptown campus on November 19, 2026 at 6pm as part of the Carole Barnette Boudreaux ’65 Great Writers Series and International Education Week. Ocean Vuong is the author of the critically acclaimed poetry collections Night Sky with Exit Wounds and Time Is a Mother, as well as the New York Times bestselling novel On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous. A recipient of the MacArthur “Genius Grant” and the American Book Award, he was born in Saigon, Vietnam, and currently splits his time between western Massachusetts and New York City. The Emperor of Gladness is his latest novel. To reach the broader community beyond campus, Tulane School of Liberal Arts is pleased to partner with Stonewall Sports New Orleans to offer copies of Vuong’s latest novel, The Emperor of Gladness. The first 25 people to rsvp and request a copy will receive a free copy of The Emperor of Gladness. Additionally, the NOLA Gay Book Club will be reading the novel as their October selection.
