This is DJ Amir, from Kon & Amir and 180 Proof Records, coming to you live and direct from Amsterdam.
This Sunday I'm playing a Sunday Vinyl Service with the wax. family, and this edition is called Our Freedom: The Sound of Standing Up. It's built around the themes of freedom, resistance and liberation. The ongoing struggle we're all a part of, as artists and as human beings in this world.
The timing means something. Right after the Fourth of July, and 250 years of American independence, we look at what freedom really sounds like. From American independence to the civil rights movement, and the music that carried those struggles out into the whole world.
Some records aren't just records. They're proof that people were here. That they resisted. That they organised. That they loved. That they survived. That's what this night is about.
I'll be spinning a three-hour set of music that reflects all of this.
So come through. Show your face. Support the wax. family. Come feel something.
