MORE ABOUT ANGELA KURKIAN: As the first woman CEO of Professional Photographers of America (PPA), Angela Kurkian leads the organization with a strong “members first” philosophy, guiding its strategy, growth, and operations. Founded more than 158 years ago, PPA exists to support the photography profession and empower photographers to thrive as both artists and entrepreneurs.
Angela joined PPA in 2012 as Director of Education after successfully operating a wedding and portrait photography studio in Cincinnati for 25 years. A passionate educator and industry advocate, she has spent more than two decades teaching and mentoring photographers across the country. One of her most impactful contributions at PPA has been the development and expansion of the organization’s photography and business education platform, now known as PhotoVision on PPA.com.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in Advertising and Marketing from the University of Florida, where she first discovered the power of photography to create meaningful emotional connections with people. That experience sparked a lifelong passion for the craft and profession of photography.
Angela is a Certified Professional Photographer (CPP) and holds both the Master of Photography and Photographic Craftsman degrees from Professional Photographers of America. Under her leadership, she remains committed to helping photographers build sustainable businesses, strengthen their creative skills, and elevate the value of professional photography.
FEMME FOTO'S MISSION -->
What to Expect: A welcoming vibe where you can meet fellow photographers, share stories, learn, and celebrate our work. Come as you are, whether you’re just picking up a camera or you’ve been in the game for years. We’ll toast to our craft and our growing community.
Who’s this space for? This event is exclusively for women, femme-identifying, trans and nonbinary creatives in photography. We are intentional about creating a safe, affirming, and non-extractive space for those whose identities are too often marginalized in creative industries.
Connect with fellow creatives, and dive into conversation. This is more than just a gathering! It’s a space to uplift, talk business, exchange ideas, recharge, inspire each other, and build community.
RSVP & be part of the conversation.
Follow us on Instagram @femmefoto.co for announcements and future events.
A Note on Attendance: In alignment with our Femme Foto Collective values, this event is not open to cis men. We ask that our male friends, peers, and allies respect this boundary and support us from the sidelines with love. Anyone who does not respect this boundary for our events will be asked to leave—lovingly but firmly.
