An opportunity to connect with other moms and explore one of the Eastern Shore’s most beautiful natural preserves! Savage Neck Dunes Nature Preserve is a state-managed preserve protected by the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation. It’s home to some of the highest bay dunes in Virginia and provides habitat for migratory birds, rare plants, and the federally threatened northeastern beach tiger beetle.
We’ll follow the preserve’s 1.3-mile round-trip trail, which is mostly flat and easy to navigate (very kid-friendly, however, not compatible with strollers due to the sand and exposed roots). The trail winds through coastal grasslands, maritime forest, and scenic dunes before opening onto a quiet stretch of Chesapeake Bay beach.
Once we reach the shoreline, anyone who wants to can continue walking along the beach before heading back! Whether you come with a baby in a carrier, little ones in tow, or just yourself, this is a chance to slow down, enjoy nature, and build the kind of community that makes motherhood feel a little lighter.
All moms, moms-to-be, and little ones are welcome!

*PS: Parking is free, but the lot is very small and only accommodates about 8 vehicles. If you’re planning to attend with, please consider carpooling to help maximize the available spaces. We also recommend arriving a little early, as you may need to wait briefly for other visitors to leave before a parking spot opens up.
