An Evening on Enshittification is an open mic night dedicated to exploring the impacts of enshittification on technology, internet, culture, and, more broadly, our lives. All attendees are invited to prepare a short talk, rant, poem, short story, creative work, or provocation about how tech - and our world - is suffering from enshittification. No longer than five minutes in length.
Think of this night like an open mic night meets a town hall meets a salon. There is no recording permitted. Use this as a space to discuss and explore in ways that you otherwise wouldn't feel comfortable doing.
***We'll be organizing around a new theme for July's event - to be announced on June 10!***
Considerations:
- If you haven’t already, let me know the theme or topic you plan to present/perform. There are no requirements to speak. Totally optional.
- Performances are targeted for 5-6 minutes. If you want to prepare something a little longer just let me know.
- There’s on-site projector if you want to prepare slides or multimedia
About Enshittification:
Enshittification is an informal word used to criticize the degradation in the quality and experience of online platforms over time, due to an increase in advertisements, costs, or features. It can also refer more generally to any state of deterioration, especially in politics or society. Similar forms include enshittify and enshittified.
