Queer women, trans, nonbinary, intersex and gender-nonconforming folks who want a place to move, play, connect- all skill levels welcome.

LIABILITY WAIVER, RELEASE OF CLAIMS & ASSUMPTION OF RISK  By RSVPing to, attending, observing, or participating in any event, activity, league, game, practice, or tournament organized, hosted, or sponsored by Queer Sports Long Beach (“QSLB”), I acknowledge, understand, and agree to the following:  ⸻  1. Assumption of Risk  I understand that participation in recreational and athletic activities involves inherent and unavoidable risks, including but not limited to bodily injury, illness, permanent disability, paralysis, death, emotional distress, and property damage. These risks may arise from, but are not limited to, physical contact with other participants, falls, collisions, weather conditions, uneven or defective surfaces, equipment failure, and the actions or inactions of other participants, spectators, volunteers, or organizers.  I knowingly and voluntarily assume all such inherent risks, whether known or unknown, foreseeable or unforeseeable, arising from or related to my participation or presence at QSLB activities.  ⸻  2. Release & Waiver of Liability  To the fullest extent permitted by California law, I hereby release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue Queer Sports Long Beach and its organizers, volunteers, hosts, partners, sponsors, event staff, agents, and representatives (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from any and all claims, demands, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, or causes of action arising out of or related to my participation in or presence at QSLB activities, including claims arising from the ordinary negligence of the Released Parties.  This release does not apply to claims arising from gross negligence, recklessness, or willful misconduct, to the extent such claims may not be waived under California law.  This release includes, without limitation, claims for personal injury, illness, death, emotional distress, and property damage or loss.  ⸻  3. California Civil Code Section 1542 Waiver  I expressly waive the provisions of California Civil Code Section 1542, which states:  “A general release does not extend to claims that the creditor or releasing party does not know or suspect to exist in their favor at the time of executing the release, and that, if known, would have materially affected their settlement.”  I acknowledge that I may discover facts or injuries different from or in addition to those now known or believed, and I nevertheless fully release the Released Parties from any and all claims, known or unknown, to the extent permitted by law.  ⸻  4. Medical Fitness & Personal Responsibility  I represent and warrant that I am physically and mentally fit to participate and have not been advised otherwise by a qualified medical professional. I understand that QSLB does not provide medical advice, medical screening, supervision, or health insurance.  I assume full responsibility for my own medical care and expenses related to any injury or illness sustained during or as a result of participation.  ⸻  5. Emergency Medical Authorization (No Duty Assumed)  In the event of an emergency, I authorize QSLB to obtain emergency medical treatment on my behalf if deemed reasonably necessary. I understand that QSLB assumes no duty to provide medical care and that I am solely responsible for any resulting medical costs.  ⸻  6. Code of Conduct & Removal  I agree to comply with all rules, guidelines, and instructions provided by QSLB organizers. I acknowledge that QSLB reserves the right to remove any participant or attendee for unsafe, disruptive, or inappropriate behavior, without refund or compensation, where applicable.  ⸻  7. Indemnification  I agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Released Parties from and against any claims, demands, damages, losses, liabilities, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to my own actions, omissions, conduct, or violation of this agreement, including claims brought by third parties, to the extent caused by me.  ⸻  8. No Insurance Representation  I understand that QSLB does not guarantee or represent that insurance coverage is provided for participants or attendees. Any insurance coverage, if applicable, is limited and is not a substitute for my own personal insurance.  ⸻  9. Age & Authority  I confirm that I am 18 years of age or older and legally competent to enter into this agreement. Minors are not permitted to participate unless a separate written waiver is executed by a parent or legal guardian.  ⸻  10. Electronic Agreement  I understand and agree that selecting “Yes,” checking a box, signing electronically, or otherwise indicating agreement constitutes my legal signature and acceptance of this agreement.  ⸻  11. Governing Law & Venue  This agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, and any dispute shall be brought exclusively in a court of competent jurisdiction within California.  ⸻  12. Severability  If any provision of this agreement is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.  ⸻  Acknowledgment  By agreeing below, I acknowledge that I have read and fully understand this waiver, that I am voluntarily giving up substantial legal rights, and that I agree to be bound by its terms.
