Tone Glow is excited to present "Don't Hang Up," a free screening at Comfort Station on September 17th at 7PM. The event will feature four films centered around phone calls and answering machines. Bill Brand's TOUCH TONE PHONE FILM is a mischievous audio-video experiment that juxtaposes a sliding film strip with the sound of someone repeatedly dialing a phone number. Dominic Angerame's PHONE/FILM PORTRAITS features short portraits of the director's friends as answering machine messages play over them. Phil Weisman's ETHNA'S SUITE, SO LONG is a diaristic survey of the director's relationship with the titular woman, as told through voice messages. Lawrence Brose's AN INDIVIDUAL DESIRES SOLUTION features transcribed and recorded phone calls of the director's boyfriend Kevin during the final months of his life. It was considered by Chicago filmmaker Zach Stiglicz to be "one of the most important documents from the early years of the [AIDS] epidemic."
All films will be shown on 16mm. Thank you to Comfort Station, Canyon Cinema, and Ben Creech.
