Soon is a startup media company covering technology through a nuanced and curious lens. This documentary is about the surprising tight-knit communities that have formed on Sora. Either through remixing or Discord groups, users of Sora, often portrayed as a "slop media platform," have displayed a remarkable amount of human connectivity. This documentary hopes to explore those dynamics using this "service" as the format.
The service be limited to one hour. After a short musical performance by bag pipes players, Zeke will perform a brief eulogy followed by attendee remarks. IRL attendees will be able to speak prepared remarks. Virtual attendees will be asked to keep remarks 10-seconds in length - both as a way to structure the event and as an homage to the 10-second limit on Sora.
The service will be recorded. Attendees should be aware that their speech may be included in the finished documentary for Soon.
Guests can either join us in person at the Transit Garden in Carroll Gardens (at the corner of Smith Street and 2nd Place) or just via Google Meet
