Welcome everyone!
It gives me great pleasure to announce the the date for the 2025 Dog Days Tour, a leisure bike tour of Chicago's finest hot dog stands. This ride is not meant to be challenging, but a perfect way to enjoy the summer in Chicago, meet new people, and broaden your horizons by exploring a variety of encased meats in a bun.
For our legacy riders, this event is modeled after and honors the Tour De Franks, whose last ride took place in 2018.
Schedule:
We'll meet at Hamlin Park at 12pm to form our group, take a photo, and then depart at 12:30pm to start our tour:
5 stops:
- Red Hot Ranch (Lakeview)
- Gene’s Sausage (Lincoln Square)
- Flub a Dub Chubs (East Lakeview/Boystown)
- Chicago Dog House (Lincoln Park)
- Fatso’s Last Stand (Ukrainian Village)
After-Party will start at 7:30pm. We likely should be done at Fatso’s by 5:30pm. Anyone who doesn’t want to go home before the party is welcome to come over directly after. The address is 1622 N Rockwell St.
Please RSVP and declare if you want a shirt (design is TBD) and your size. Pricing is TBD but should be ~$30-35.
I'll see you on the Dog Trail!
FAQ:
What is the bike situation?
- The event is BYOB (Bring Your Own Bike). If you are without wheels, Divvy does offer a day pass that is relatively inexpensive. E-Scooters are prohibited (you're welcome in advance). It is HIGHLY ENCOURAGED you wear a helmet to the tour.
Will there be people drinking alcohol?
- This is not a bar crawl, just a hot dog crawl. A few of the stops do offer alcohol, so if you indulge, please drink responsibly.
Can I put ketchup on my hot dog(s)?
- No.
How fast is the ride?
- To reiterate, this is not a race; we will be moving at a casual pace. Expect the event to take us into early evening.
What if it rains?
- Bring a poncho, the Dog Days Tour must go on. We will ride rain or shine.
