This event is a reading of the script for our first feature film! Doors will open at 8 and the reading will start at 8:30. It will run for roughly two hours with a thirty minute intermission.
Jesus Lives Here is a psychological thriller written by Mattie McMahon. It explores bigotry through bigots and its consequences with a greater critique of American Christian nationalism and the MAGA individuals who see Trump as the embodiment of Jesus Christ for reasons no larger than the fact that he says what they want to hear. In this story, we follow the Smith family to its untimely demise. As the eldest daughter starts to resist traditional values, the matriarch, Jessica, doubles down on her faith and is rewarded by hearing the voice of Jesus himself. Failing to question the true intentions of her so-called God, she takes her family down with her in the name of her Lord and Savior.
Please be advised, this story is not for the faint of heart. Sensitive matters include: Blasphemy and false prophets, child abuse, child neglect, unsafe abortion, pro-life sentiment, suicide, homophobia both internalized and externalized, misogyny, child death, and general banter expected from an Evangelical American family. If any of this is particularly upsetting to you, we understand if you aren’t interested in attending.
