He is a pharmacist who has championed health care and STEM education amongst his array of efforts while in office. Oye's campaign for DC Council was endorsed by DC Voters for Animals in December 2025 for his legacy of animal protection work, including being a featured speaker at the DC Animal Rights March, a Co-Chair of DC's first ever DC Veg Restaurant Week, and a member of DC's vegan community.
