Moving Day: the Pipevine Nursery Goes to the Gill Tract
Hosted by
*◟*
We are moving the whole pipevine nursery to the Gill Tract Community Farm, and this one is a big deal for us. The plants finally get proper room and a permanent home.
This is a move, not a normal potting evening. We start at 3062 California St in Oakland at 5:30 and convoy over from there.
There is a lot to shift: roughly 300 planters of California pipevine, plus three 27 gallon bins of cuttings that are striking roots and pushing out new leaves.
If you can bring a car, a truck or a van, that is the single most useful thing this week. If you cannot drive, please still come. We need hands at both ends, loading in Oakland and unloading at the farm.
Wear closed-toe shoes and clothes you do not mind getting soil on. Friends and kids welcome.
These are the vines rescued from Strawberry Creek before the excavation on the UC Berkeley campus. Getting them to the Gill Tract is what lets them grow on until they go out to people.
