NYC HIDE N SEEK
CONGRATULATIONS!! 🎉 If you are reading this you are officially invited to play HIDE N SEEK. The first official game of The Great NYC Games. 🌆
GAMEPLAY: The game is simple and will last approximately 5 hours ⏰(noon-5pm). All players will be checked in and asked if they would like to hide 🫣 or seek🫡. Those that wish to hide will be added to the ‘hiders pool’ after check-in, on the morning of the game, we will pick our four hiders from that pool. 🎟️ You won’t know if you are hiding until the morning of the game, everyone has the opportunity to hide. 🤗 Those four people then will be put into costume (including face paint) and sent into New York City 🌉(Yes, All Five Boroughs). The hiders will have a 30 minute head start. After that, every 30 minutes, they must send a selfie showing they are still in costume, 🐵and a screenshot of their current location,📍which will then be text blasted and posted on IG for the rest of the group to continue the search. 🔍 Additional rules apply to verify location and costume which will be revealed the day of the game to prevent cheating. 📋 If you are hiding, have followed all the rules, and still aren’t found by the end of the game (5pm). You get prize money! 💰(Consisting of 1 dollar per person playing i.e. if we get 200 people, all 4 hiders will be able to win $200 dollars.) FOR THOSE SEEKING, all you need is a clear picture of the hider. 📸 (Which will be adjudicated by our referee’s for clarity and authenticity.) After approved, you will get that persons prize money. 💰 All forms of public transportation may be used during the game; subway 🚇 , metro 🚊 , citibike 🚲 , taxi’s/ubers 🚙 , as well as ferries ⛴️. (No personal vehicles allowed, you can’t get in your own car 🚫, you can’t get into a friend’s car🚫, and you can’t use your own bike or a friend’s bike🚫.)
Afterwards we will have a PIZZA PARTY for all participants!!! 🍕
💥For ALL PLAYERS: 💥
-upon check in, you will receive a wristband. THIS MUST STAY ON ALL DAY IN ORDER TO COLLECT PRIZE MONEY. (And for admission to the pizza party🤪)
-this day will be long. Starting at 11am and ending with the pizza party around 6pm. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes, and bring a day bag with snacks🍎, water💦, and a phone charger 📱. YOU WILL NEED A PHONE TO PLAY.
-the game will happen rain ☔️or shine ☀️! Dress accordingly 🧥.
-friends who have not been registered and checked in may not play! Your wristband will be essential to ensure this step and further rules will be explained the day of.
-there is a twist to the game! 🪢Please be aware. (Hiders might be told the twist at their starting line depending on the amount of participants, if it’s 200 to 4 you will know, we’re trying to make it fair.)
-No Cheating!! 🚫🚫 This is meant to be a fun game with incentive for creative gameplay, but cheating will NOT be tolerated. If THE REFEREES see proof of cheating, all players will be made aware and disqualification will follow for those involved.
💥For those who wish to hide 🫣 : 💥
-come early!! Check in for hiders will close promptly at 11:30 AM so that we can draw names, take a group picture, get you in costume and to your starting line. 🏃The game clock will start promptly at noon. 🕛
-you MUST send the selfie and location check-in every 30 minutes⏳. That will then be sent to the rest of the players. (You will have a 10 minute window to do so… if it is not within that window, you will be disqualified, that includes if you get stuck in a car/bus/train.) Plan accordingly for your check-ins ✅.
-part of the location check-in does involve cross streets/subway stations in your pictures, it must be one of the two. You WILL have to come outside or get off the train/bus/car and go to a public street or subway station for check-in.📍
-after your final check-in (4:30 pm.) You cannot be in a place that isn’t accessible to the public. (No closets, no bathrooms, you must be in a visible and accessible to the public.)
-bring a phone and charger in your ‘GO BAG’ (if your phone dies and you miss a check-in you will be disqualified.)
-all articles of clothing must go under the costume 🐒 , with the acceptation of a ‘GO BAG’ (which should be no larger than a backpack 🎒).
-you may not add ‘disguises’ to the costume to blend in🥸, in addition you may not purposefully remove the face paint (it’ll be wrecked by the end of the game, but if there are signs of deliberate face paint removal, you will be disqualified.) 🙂↔️
-you may NOT leave NYC, you do have all 5 boroughs… but even if you get on a ferry that stops in New Jersey you will be disqualified. (this includes 🗽).
-if you do decide to take a ferry ⛴️, and the check-in happens while on the boat, you must truthfully say where you are getting off and your next location check-in needs to reflect that. 🫣
-HAVE FUN, DON’T GET CAUGHT!!
💥For those who wish to seek 👀: 💥
-after check in you MAY NOT LEAVE THE AREA!! This is imperative to make sure the hiders get their 30 minute head start🏃♂️. They will start the game at noon and you will all be released to seek at 12:30 🕧
-the game will end promptly at 5pm. If you send in the picture at 4:59 pm and it is approved, you still win! 🏅
-individual players may only win prize money for 1️⃣ hider. Once you find someone, you can still help, but you cannot win more money. 😕 (Those in your group can though 😃 if you decide to use teamwork.)
-USE TEAMWORK! 👭👫👬There are only 4 people hiding in a radius over 100 square miles. You will need to work together.
*All payments are final, no refunds, it is up to you to be there the day of the game. You must be 18 yrs or older to play. The Great NYC games, and its affiliates, are not responsible for injuries incurred during the duration of the game/event/pizza party. Play responsibly! The Great NYC games, and its affiliates, are not responsible for any personal actions taken during the game. (Do NOT break any laws i.e. fair evasion, trespassing, physical altercations… etc.) We will not bail you out, or vouch for illegal activity. The great NYC games, and its affiliates, are not responsible for lost/stolen items during the game. All participants agree to being filmed for footage used for all The Great NYC Games social media accounts. And finally, PLAY FAIR. NO ONE LIKES A CHEATER AND CHEATERS WILL BE THOROUGHLY SHAMED AND BLACK LISTED FROM ALL FUTURE GAMES.*
