We are delighted to welcome you to the closing night of this community art show on the topic of religious trauma and spirituality, featuring over 40 works of art by local and national artists, both established and new. This night will feature an artist talk at 7pm where featured artists will share on a panel about their works. Before and after the talk the gallery will be open for viewing and drinks will be provided.
Casey VanderStel, the Artist-in-Residence at the church St. Luke’s Lutheran Church of Logan Square, is coordinating and curating this show. Please reach out to them if you have questions about this project! (caseyvstelstudio@gmail.com)
The gallery is inside of St. Luke's Lutheran Church of Logan Square, at 3325 W Wrightwood Ave. Chicago, IL 60647.
This show contains themes of religious and spiritual trauma, sexual trauma, homophobia and transphobia, some nudity and graphic images, and other heavy themes, and may not be suitable for children.
Though the art show and program is being hosted through and in a progressive Christian church, the artwork is not necessarily pro-Christian, the show's goal is not to promote the Christian faith, and we work to welcome all diverse voices and perspectives from all faiths that amplify values of care and love.
