Opening Ceremony: A Blessing for Rooh Sanctuary Sliding Scale: $45-$55 106 W Channel Rd, Santa Monica, CA 90402 Step into an evening of prayer, intention, and blessing as Rooh Sanctuary opens its doors for the very first time. This inaugural gathering is a ceremonial soundbath dedicated to honoring the space, its spirit, its purpose, and all who will enter it. Guided by Sahar Farooqui, this immersive sound journey will weave bowls, gong, sitar, and ancestral tones to cleanse, awaken, and protect the sanctuary. This opening ceremony marks a threshold: a moment of collective intention, protection, and prayer as Rooh begins its life as a healing space. Together, we will set intentions for Rooh’s opening year and offer blessings for all the care, restoration, and transformation that will unfold within these walls. Expect: • A cleansing ritual for the space • An immersive soundbath rooted in ancestral memory • Collective intention-setting and blessing Join us for this rare and intimate opening moment as Rooh Sanctuary takes its first breath. Yoga mats and blankets will be provided. You’re welcome to bring your own mat, blankets, pillows, or anything else that helps you feel most comfortable and supported. — Sahar Farooqui Sound Artist, Sitarist & Ceremonialist Sahar Farooqui Khundmiri is a Los Angeles–based sound artist and sitarist whose work bridges Hindustani classical music, Sufi mysticism, and vibrational healing. Rooted in her South Asian, Middle Eastern, and Muslim heritage, she creates immersive soundscapes that evoke a safar—a spiritual journey through sound. Trained in sitar, raga, and voice, Sahar blends classical technique with crystal bowls, chimes, and devotional elements such as zikr and Sufi poetry. Holding a Master’s in Religious Studies, her practice draws from the intersections of Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism to create spaces of reflection, reverence, and rest. Her offerings range from public soundbaths to site-specific installations, where sound becomes both sacred ritual and living art. Follow her work at @soundsbysahar www.saharsound.com
