Join Us for a Sephardic Rosh Hashanah Dinner For Young Professionals and community members on Friday, September 11 at 6:30 PM. Kick off the New Year with great food, community, and tradition. Come celebrate, connect, and begin the year with beautiful signs of sweetness, abundance, and tons of blessings. Schedule Yom Tov Candle Lighting - 6:30 PM Morrocan-Style Rosh Hashanah Service - 6:45 PM Sephardic Holiday Dinner - 7:30 PM the service will be led by our community cantor, Avyatar Alfassi, who joins us for the High Holidays. Sephardic Simanim Seder We will begin the dinner with the Sephardic Simanim Seder, based on the Babylonian Talmud, Tractate Horayot 12a, where Abaye, one of the greatest scholars of the Talmud, teaches in Aramaic: “Simana Milta Hee” — a sign carries meaning. The idea is especially powerful at the beginning of something new: just as a new king would be anointed near a spring as a sign that his kingdom should flow and continue, we begin the New Year with symbolic foods like pumpkin, leeks, dates, and apples with honey, each representing blessings for sweetness, success, abundance, and a good year ahead. Our in-house chef, Ronit, will be serving a festive meal full of authentic homemade Sephardic flavors. In honor and remembrance of September 11, we will also recite a special prayer for the United States of America. Shanah Tova U'Metukah !
